August 2021 Postage Rate Chart Changes

The USPS has elected to use virtually all of their pricing authority granted under the New Postal Rate Making Rules that went into effect this past January, to file a Second Postage Rate Change in 2021. This past Friday afternoon (May 28th), they filed Market Dominant Price Changes with the PRC (Postal Regulatory Commission) that will go into effect on Sunday, August 29, 2021. These rates are proposed until deemed final after the PRC has reviewed and commented which we anticipate will occur over the next month without changes.  While the average increase is 6.9% across all of the changes the Postal Service has proposed, the actual rates at the mail class and presort levels vary – so it is important to look at how you’re mailing to determine what the new rates will be.

Here are some highlights:

• Single Piece Forever Stamps will go from $0.55 to $0.58 cents which is an increase of 5% or $.03 cents per piece
• First Class Single Piece Meter Mail at 1 oz will go up 4% or $0.02 cents per piece
• First Class Presorted Letter Rates will go up on average 7.5% or $0.032 cents per piece
• First Class Automation Flats at 1 oz are going up on average 18% or $0.11 cents per piece
• Nonprofit Marketing Mail Letters are going up on average 7% or $0.01 cent. The DSCF 5D increase will be 4%  
• Nonprofit Marketing Mail Flats 4 oz or less are going up on average 12.1% or $0.044 per piece
• Nonprofit Marketing Mail Flats over 4 oz are going up on average 23.34% or $0.036 per piece per piece in addition to an average of 4.85% or $0.032 per pound. The most significant increases are at the 5D level 
• All of the USPS Promotions for 2021 will be available in 2022
