Show notes:

“Hello, everyone, Ben Harris here again, President with Production Solution, sharing tip #4, in the video series, Benlightenment: “5 Tips for Self Innovation,” to help you in a time where we are all going through significant change and uncertainty in our lives, both at work and life!

Tip number four is about cultivating emotional agility. So it’s starting to become a lot more aware of how emotions truly do drive and proceed all actions and behavior that we carry out throughout the day and our lives.

Being aware of how we might be bringing an emotion that might be very subtle into a conversation with our family or significant other, in business with a client, a colleague, and where that emotion might be coming from, and how it almost be playful with that emotion and loving and accepting, and giving yourself more grace with the emotions that all of you, I’m sure are feeling, at different points of the day, during different days of the week, during different weeks of the month, based on how many things are changing and at the pace at which there are unfolding, is truly unprecedented.

This notion of practicing awareness first, in terms of what we’re feeling, and then starting to potentially write down how you’re feeling with a subtle shift up instead of ‘I am tired’ or ‘I am frustrated’ to, ‘I feel tired’ or ‘I feel frustrated,’ and starting to write down why you feel frustrated or why you feel tired. And see if you can unwind some of the reasons, or the why behind what’s driving emotions. It’s not to dismiss or diminish any emotions that you’re going to feel because we’re going to feel emotions no matter what. Good ones, bad ones, indifferent ones, so it’s starting to just become more at peace, more balanced than a more accepting that you’re going to have this rollercoaster ride of emotions, and how you can start to do some shifting as opposed to dismissing or diminishing of your emotions is really key. There is some great work by Susan David, there’s a TED Talk that she has available and she’s just come out with a new book called ‘Emotional Agility’ so check her out.

Until next time, be well, be purposeful, and continue to lead in all that you do. See you soon for tip number 5!”
